Day 20 - Yup, another sea day - June 8th

After the hectic day yesterday, it was a much quieter day today, but I did skip morning trivia to watch the second half of the Canadian GP.  Apart from one question that I could have answered, that the team got wrong, it wouldn’t have made any difference.  We would still have lost.

The ship was moving about a bit, certainly, this hasn’t been as smooth as the other cruises and we gather there is a cyclone not too far away, so goodness knows what that will mean for us.

Paula and I ended up with a toasted sandwich mid-afternoon, and although not up to my NZ garden centre special standard, of three slices of bread/toast, with runny egg, bacon, tomato and cream cheese, it was enough to keep us going.

The constant ship movement was such that Paula really only wanted a very light evening meal so we opted for the early show – Don Bryan the Canadian ventriloquist with his two ‘doll’s, Noseworthy and Annie.  Once again, an act we have seen before but witty - and he did introduce a new segment at the end, using an audience member to act as a dummy, whilst he did the speaking.  In the theatre, they had a repeat of the  production show, Latino Mundo, presumably fir those who missed it earlier.

Afterwards, we opted for a bite in the buffet and once again, the food really was excellent.

The Chicken Kiev was moist and the cooked beetroot in balsamic very tasty.  We couldn’t resist the Horizon Court special of the evening – crepes! Years ago, mum cooked delicious pancakes, but we now realise that maybe they should have been named crepes.  Pancakes in most places seem to be the thicker American hot cakes.

On this cruise, apart from several evening specials in the buffet and the regular lunchtime specials, they have also had at least three ‘English Pub Lunches’ in cafĂ© Corniche – the pizzeria.  These seem to have been very popular, but we haven’t bothered.  Come to think of it, we haven’t had a pizza either.

Sadly, I seem to be developing a bit of a throat tickle, which usually means a bit of discomfort looming, so the nightcap will be a Coldral capsule.

For future cruisers, the on board shop never seems to have enough sea sickness pills, nor cough sweets.  Bring your own.

Still two more sea days before Dubai and another passenger swap of maybe 280 cruisers plus one or two staff changes.  Deputy Victoria gets off and Dan drops back to Deputy.  John Graham also gets off, so we have no idea what is happening to the ballroom dancing.
